Two Important Summer Festivals in Europe, Which bring togother Metal Music Fans from all corners of the World.
Beyond The Gates in Norway and Brutal Assault in the Czech Republic.
Cloudkill PicsVidz had the opportunity to enjoy these two Metal Music Festival for the first time in 2023 . Each of them with top – level and world – renowned participating bands.
Here we want to share with you some of the incredible moments experienced at both Events.
Beyond The Gates Festival – is an annual Metal Festival oriented more towards Black Metal Music.
Bergen – Norway is where the festival takes place in August each year, the main stage is at USF Verflet refurbished Sardine factory.
We can find bands of different styles, but what characterizes it is Black Metal.

Brutal Assault Festival – is an open Air Metal Festival that takes place in the 18th – century army fortress Josefov , located in Jaromer , Czech Republic. Held each August of each year, this festival offers diverse musical styles such as Hardcore Punk, Death Metal, Grindcore, Black Metal, Doom Metal, electronic and more.

From France we introduce Lying Figures guys who play Melodic Death – Doom
Metal but actually they go beyond that. We are very pleased to open our 2023 Blog section with them.
Lying Figures was put together in 2012 by guitarists Mehdi (Tolstoi) and Matthieu. After the entry of singer Thibault (Octavion), drummer Charles (Ataraxis, Warfaith) and Fred (Drowning, Inborn Suffering,Marthyr) on bass the band achieved a more stable line up.
The guys from Lying Figures state his music is inspired by art, cinema, music and even literature. Their inspiration goes from Saturnus to Katatonia, from David Lynch to Jhon Carpenter, from Edgar Allan Poe to Lovecraft, also going through the horror of Silent Hill to the world of fantasies like Alice in The Wonderland. They use all these to create their own world of madness and fantasy inviting melancholy as an important and conceptual part of their music.

In 2016 they entered La Forge studios to record their first album with Pierre Schaffner (Phazm, Mortuary, Pillars, Wheelfall, Warfaith) and in December they signed a deal with Rain Without End Records to release their material in May 2017. In the same 2017 guitarist Hugo Prete (at that time session guitarist) entered as a permanent member of the band.
In 2018 Mehdi leaves the band after 10 years in it to concentrate on his own project Tolstoi. In 2019 Hugo decided to left the band in order to dedicate himself to his family. Claude Colmars (Dusk Of Dilusion, ex Forsaken World) entered the band as Hugo’s replacement.
In March 2021, after 10 years with the band, Thibaullt retires from it for personal reasons. Fred then took over vocals and bass simultaneously.
In September 2022, Claude left the band and went back to his homeland in Corsica. Hugo then returns to the band.

Lying Figures has crossed borders outside France. They have visited stages in Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Italy among others. The have shared stages with bands like Ahab, Blue Hour Ghosts, Doomed, Evadne, Funeralium, Goatess, Igorrr, Marche Funebre, October Tide and Swallow The Sun.

GERMANY 2022
In 2019 we had the opportunity to be present for the first time at PartySan.
In 2022 we were again present at this great festival, but this time we participated as press and it was a magnificent experience for us.
PartySan Open Air is one of the biggest festivals that takes place every summer in the month of August in the town of Schlotheim-Thuringia-Germany.
PartySan is a 3 day festival of pure music with international bands of Death Metal and Black Metal styles! It has an incredible main stage with first level sound equipment, and second stage, it also has a camping area where people can rest and spend a moment of conviviality! PartySan also has a various food kiosks, drinks, bars, cafeterias, ice cream parlors, and for all music lovers, it offers the official PartySan Merchandising kiosk and many other kiosks where you can find records, vinyl, t-shirts, patches, jewelry, musical instruments and a range of art in sculptures and paintings by talented independent artists and more!
If we talk about the headlining bands this year at the 2022 PartySan Open Air Festival was showcased with bands such as the fabulous Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Dismember, Benediction, Katatonia, Uda, Dark Funeral, Mayhem, Asphyx, Onslaught, Saor, 1914, and more bands
A great expectation was had for the presentation of the Ukrainian band 1914, for us it was the first time we saw this band live, and we were not disappointed.
The guys from 1914 came out on stage with great force and security! We could notice all that painful feeling of being a prisoner when a country is suffering because of a senseless war in each one of the band members. (At that moment, a painful, situation had occurred with people from Ukraine) But in spite of everything, they continued with their show, always carrying the flag of their country in their hands and saluting their compatriots who were in front of them showing the flag of Ukraine.
The 1914 show was full of strength and feeling patriotism, and musically they are a weapon of war
PartySan, like all international metal music festivals, brings together thousands of people from all over the world, We met beautiful and good friends that we have in our social networks, and we were able to share with them in person and reaffirm our friendship, also as Latin Americans of origin that we are, we were able to meet our brothers from Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Paraguay, etc! It was a meeting that was very warm and filled with many beautiful feelings, it is incredible everything that music can do. We met more new German friends and we all went as one.
Cloudkill Picsvidz as press had all the necessary facilities to be able to cover this great festival! From the first moment that we coordinated our press pass with the friends of PartySan Open Air to be present at its 2022 edition, they were very attentive and welcomed us with great affection.

Without a doubt, PartySan Open Air Festival 2022 left us with the same as 2019, the feeling of wanting to return once again!
TONS OF ROCK 2022
Tons of Rock is one of the biggest Rock and Metal Music festivals in Europe and Scandinavia! They very kindly opened their doors for us in 2022, after a long break in activities paralyzed by the pandemic that deprived us of all freedom
Tons of Rock 2022 Festival takes place in Ekebergsletta Oslo Norway and offers us three days of intense musical activity!
We at Cloudkill Picvidz were present, and accredited as Press! This festival was dated from June 20-22 2022.
The great bands that were part of this important festival need no introduction. All of the first level both the participating bands who opened on each of these three days, as well as the bands that were headliners!
Cloudkill Picsvidz in this first experience in Tons of Rocks 2022 was able to enjoy the famous musical bands worldwide, and more particularly, the spirit of the people who were just like us with a thirst for live music.
We were able to share a great amount of time with the people who were present at this event! This was very special for all of us because it had been a long time since we felt the magic that makes your heart and spirit happy when you participate in a big music festival such as Tons of Rock! We are also music lovers like everyone present at the festival, people from all over the interior of Norway, people from different European countries, as well as people who traveled all the way from South America including countries such as Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Uruguay and more! All together sharing the music and joy of the environment, exchanging experiences lived in other festivals etc. It was a very beautiful coexistence, we focused a lot on the participation of the public present. From small children who went with their parents and also enjoyed music, to the very elderly people.
Tons of Rock seemed to be a very well organized event, people were hydrated at all times, the festival gave away containers with water to be filled as many times as you wanted, it also kept it’s visitors prepared with sunscreen (completely free) for the three days that the festival lasted. The security throughout the event had impeccable participation, very attentive to any emergency! The food and drink kiosks were very well stocked and there was a wide variety (prices for all kinds of pockets) Merchandising booths were the same, Tons of Rock participating bands and other various clothing, there were also car dealerships, as well as buses available to the public! These buses travel to and from the festival having their point in the city center in Oslo (with paid transport passes)
The day with the highest public attendance, as expected, was for Iron Maiden! A total of 40,000 souls gathered! If we talk about bands, everything was well organized between band to band sets on stage, also for us as press we were able to do our work with great calmness and order…a good job by the press coordinators. We do not want to say that this was something against anyone, but many people thought it was a bad idea to have Opeth and Paradise Lost play at the same time on the last day of the festival!
We personally believe that the reason this happened was perhaps due to the time availability of said bands. Perhaps a disadvantage was, at least for the people who came from other countries, not having the facility of the wi-fi connection! Tons of Rock was at all times giving information about schedules, bands that played, delays and last minute changes around the event! This could not be known by people who came from other parts of the world!
The stages were very well distributed and not too far from each other.
Finally, people had a lot of fun in these 3 days of festival, there was a lot of energy in the audience, joy was in the air.
Definitely this Festival is first class.

REALM OF HORUS
From the Northwest of Zaragoza Spain, Cloudkill Picsvidz presents this interesting band REALM OF HORUS. Let’s know more about them.
REALM OF HORUS is formed by musicians of different nationalities, the band is based in Zaragoza-Spain and each of them have a long artistic career in their steps through the stages. They are music teachers, dedicated musicians, and together they make a very interesting band focused on the deepest and darkest side of ancient Egypt both in lyrics and melody. Individually each of them as musicians have more than 15 full-length albums to their credit, as well as EPs, international tours, as well as participating in many metal shows and festivals.
As professional and A1 Level Musicians they decided to unite all their talent and strength to share with all of us their experience and professionalism to form this ambitious project called REALM OF HORUS. They recently recorded the first album and self-titled REALM OF HORUS by the renowned producer of the Spanish Rock-Metal scene Alex Cappa.
This full-length will consist of 13 songs, which we can expect and appreciate the good technical and professional level that extreme music requires, that does not necessarily have to be beastly and noisy.
We believe that there is much more to explore in this album you will find a devastating sound, but at the same time with a delicious musical elegance.
The sound is high level TMF (The Metal Factory Studios ) We also mention that the band has three recorded and edited video clips that accompany the well deserved promotion of their debut album, the band tells us that they have a fourth video clip in mind that is very sure to be filmed in the coming months.
Additionally, our friend Mark Norris (voices-Guitars) told us that in this debut album they have a pleasant and great surprise, it is the participation of the legend himself Jeff Walker(vocals, bass)
of the legendary death metal band CARCASS who gladly decided to lend his voice for the song (Death By Immolation) which is an important piece in this debut album.

SWEDEN one of the pioneer countries in the History of Death Metal has given us an endless list of mythical bands of this genre, Nihilist, Entombed, Vomitory, Dismember,
Unleashed, Carnage among others. Swedish Death Metal is well known by its raw and crunchy sound. Clodkill-PicsVidz is pleased to introduce you DESOLATOR, a great death metal band from Stockholm – Sweden. Let’s know more about them.
Is a Death Metal band formed in 2009 in Stockholm Sweden. During their early days they focus to play classic Swedish Death metal as bands as Dismember, Unleashed, Entombed, Grave. Later on, after they released their full-length Unearthly Monument through Hellthrasher Productions, focus shifted towards a more epic, monolithic sound influenced by bands like Immolation and Morbid Angel.

They released their acclaimed EP Spawn Of Misanthropy in 2016. This was a self released record that was then re-released through Black Lion Records in 2018
SPAWN OF MISANTHROPY
On September 4th 2020 they released their album Sermon Of Apathy again through Black Lion Records, achieving great reviews. This album builds upon the sound started on the previous EP, while delving even deeper into the abyssal depths of humanity and Lovecraftian horrors. It is worth mentioning that Karl Sanders, Nile’s brain, appears as a guest.

Desolator has shared stage with Decapitated and Satyricon at the Hellid Fest in Poland. The band is preparing themselves to go again live once this Covid-19 pandemia is over.

MEET AHINCO
In this opportunity we introduce you to AHINCO band from the beautiful city of Mar Del Plata – Argentina. It is a pleasure for us to introduce you to this great band from South America.
The band was started in 2011 in Mar Del Plata – Argentina by Lucho Alippi current bass player and vocals of Ahinco. Currently they are a trio – Ariel Sanchez on Drums, Hernan Chave on Guitar, and Lucho Alippi on bass-Vocals. Together they give us an aggressive style fusion of those old school Swedish and US Death Metal Bands ( Grave, Emtombed, Atheist, Death, Morbid Angel, Edge Of Sanity). It also has a dose of speed and precision like Technical Thrash Metal bands (Sadus, Coroner, Forbidden).

All this is part of a musical explosion, the Lyrics are of Philosophical Character (Existentialism, Nihilism, Transcendentalism) all this added to a very professional sound.
The Band has four albums made independently, which deserves to be appreciated and give them a special credit, giving us the best of them.

COVID BASTARDS
Covid Bastards was born during the quarantine period of the Covid -19 global pandemic that we continue to experience until now in this 2020 .. Nabyl Guennouni (vocalist – Producer and Ali Rguigue – Guitarist and producer) put together this project in order to bring positive energies to all the metal music community in the world. These guys from Morocco started with the idea to make the cover… Pursuit of the Vikings one of the most famous songs of the band Amonth Amarth. Our friend Nabyl who did voices for the band Reborn one of the greatest and most important Metal band of North Africa and in the company of Ali they decide to launch the project as a Band calling it Covid Bastards. They decide to call it that because of the instability that is happening in these times, without knowing what else is going to happen to the world because of this Covid -19.

This band project established an international concept. The idea was to invite musician friends from other parts of the world. The first guest was Mr. Redouane Aouameur, one of the oldest Metal musicians in Algeria, who is a musician with a long career. Currently he is the lead singer of the band Lelahell. Covid Bastards, together with Redouane, made the song Slaugthger of The Soul by the band AT THE GATES band that inspired them for almost 3 decades. The experience of doing this cover was very gratifying and in a week they decided to record the video clip. The reaction of friends did not delay and with very good reactions the motivation grew even more.

Covid Bastards thought in another good musician and friend who could support them with another song. This time they asked M-Irc Tachat. Original from Lebanon he was one of the guttural singers of Death Metal in this country during the 90s and influenced many Middle Eastern bands. Another musician friend, M, Walid Choughari, joined them. Together they made the cover Roswell 47 from the band Hypocrisy.

CARCASS A PART OF THE A DREAM
For Nabyl and company there are bands that serve as inspiration and influence such as the legendary Carcass. They did a show in Casa Blanca, the largest city in Morocco. The show of Carcass was in September 2019 at the Boulevard Festival, one of the Mega Events in the region that brings together bands from all musical styles and art. Momo, Hicham and others in the organization of this Festival made it possible for us to have the opportunity to meet the members of such an important band and a good friendship was born.
CARCASS AND COVID BASTARDS
Time passed and thoughts about this friendship with Carcass gave us the idea to work in another Cover. This time was the turn of one of Dismember and the song – On Frozen Fields. This time the talented guitarist and current Carcass and Pounder musician Tom Draper gladly accepted the invitation to participate in this cover. They were joined by Hamza from the band Oxicorte from Madrid – Spain. This formation was like a dream team, was very special for everyone. Being able to share the magic of making music from so far away on different continents and even more so in these Dark times was memorable.
